Prepping for the Detox

As part of my journey to Healing, I'm planning to do several detoxes and cleanses. Now there are a lot of different camps on thoughts about detoxes. Some people think you don't need them at all. Other people insist on doing them on a pretty regular basis. Personally, I feel like there are a lot of things in my body that aren't working correctly and I want to try to help clear that out so that my body can start to heal. As always, I'm no doctor and I'm just doing what I feel like is best for my health based on my research and my gut. If you decide to try any of these things, make sure you discuss him with your doctor first.

After doing a bunch of research, I decided that for right now I'm just going to start doing things to gently get my body moving again. I'm still breastfeeding Bumbum at least part-time, so the last thing I want to do is a detox and dumped a bunch of junk into my system that could possibly be excreted in my breast milk. For example, I want to do a parasite cleanse, but after researching saw that parasites tend to hold a lot of heavy metals. I definitely do not want to be dumping a slew of heavy metals into my bloodstream that could end up in my breast milk and passed on to my baby. So I'm waiting until I'm finished breastfeeding to do the heavy-duty stuff. In the meantime I'm just going to start with gentler methods to get stuff flowing again.

The first thing I'm adding in is oil pulling. I've done oil pulling in the past, I really really like it. However, I've been terrible with inconsistent. I've done it maybe 10 times and it's always been several weeks apart. One of the things about oil pulling is when you're finished, the oil is absolutely disgusting but my mouth feels amazing! I've tried different kinds of oil for oil pulling. I've heard recommendations of sunflower oil, safflower oil, coconut oil, and olive oil. Different oils supposedly have different benefits. I've personally tried all of them and all of them made me gag except for the coconut oil. So I'm going to go ahead and do coconut oil just based on my personal preference. I'll do an entire post on just the benefits of coconut oil and another one on the benefits of oil pulling, so look out for those in the near future. I've also decided that I'm going to use frankincense oil in the oil pulling. Essential oils is something that I'm just starting to research, but I'm really liking what I'm seeing so far. I'll also post about that shortly. Then another thing that I'm going to be doing is dry brushing. Dry brushing is when you take a kind of course brush and brush your skin in a specific motion all over your body.  It is supposed to be good for getting your lymph system moving. So I decided I'm going to go ahead and do that as well. Lastly, I've added chia seeds and psyllium husks to smoothies that I'm trying to eat everyday. I'm trying to increase my fiber and my Omega-3s to get my colon moving. So just trying to get all of my systems going.
